Meet Sonny  Raccoon Daddy

From Highway Blessing to Heart-Stirring Mission: How Yahweh Lead Me To One Of His Children In Need.

Our Story

A few days ago, something extraordinary happened that completely shook my soul and reignited my fire for what God is doing in this broken world.

I was cruising down the highway toward the next town when I spotted him—a man standing on the shoulder, holding a battered cardboard sign that didn't say "Anything Helps" or "Homeless Veteran." No, it boldly declared just one word: "BLESSINGS."

That single word hit me like a lightning bolt from heaven. I slammed on the brakes, pulled over, and waved him over. His name is Sonny.

The second he opened the door and slid into the passenger seat, before I could even say hello, this man—this beautiful soul—dug into his pocket and tried to hand me his last few crumpled dollars for gas money. I was stunned. Here I was offering him a ride, and he was trying to bless *me* first! Of course, I gently pushed his hand away and told him to keep it.

What happened next was nothing short of a divine appointment.

We started driving, and within minutes, we were deep in conversation—talking about Yahweh, redemption, grace, and the darkest valleys we'd both walked through. We shared testimonies of how the Lord had shielded us, carried us, and turned our messes into messages. It was like we'd known each other for years.

I was headed to Raising Cane's, so I said, "Sonny, come eat with me!" Over chicken fingers, his story poured out, and I couldn't get enough. This man is brilliant—sharp as a tack—yet wrapped in the deepest humility I've ever witnessed. His love for God? It's radiant, contagious, and far beyond anything I've seen in most folks... especially me.

After food, I took him to Walmart. We grabbed essentials he needed—a few clothes, toiletries, and even a simple $30 phone so he could stay connected. We wandered those aisles for 3–4 hours, laughing, praying, and talking about the goodness of God. And let me tell you, everywhere we went, Sonny was pouring out blessings—encouraging strangers, just a radiating joy like a walking revival.

That night, I drove him back to where he was staying: a tent in the woods—what he calls "the wild." No complaints. No bitterness. Just gratitude.

When the temperatures suddenly plunged over the next couple days, I couldn't sit still. I reached out to a few brother in Christ, returned to Walmart and purchased blankets, jackets, socks, and anything else I could think of and rushed them out to him. While we talked, he pulled up videos on his new phone: footage of him hand-feeding eight wild raccoons that live in the trees around his campsite. They come right up to him like pets! Watching that pure, childlike wonder on his face... man, I found myself envying his peace. This man has a clarity and contentment that can only come straight from the throne of God.

The more time I spend with Sonny, the stronger this burning conviction grows in my spirit: I have to help him step into a slightly better season—not for luxury, but so he can keep being the unstoppable vessel of blessing he's already proven to be.

So I offered: "Sonny, let's get you in a better living situation." His response floored me.

He smiled that quiet, knowing smile and said, "I don't need anything. My life is perfect. If I could have just one thing, it would be a small RV—so I could take a warm shower every now and then, then come right back outside and sleep in my hammock under the stars."

That's it. One humble wish.

Brothers and sisters, I've been blessed to help many people over the years, but I have never felt this kind of holy urgency to rally around one person like I do for Sonny. The only other fire that burns this hot in my heart is the call God has placed on my life to serve the precious people in Uganda who are living in conditions far below basic human dignity.

But right now, Yahweh has put Sonny front and center—a living testament that joy isn't found in stuff, but in total surrender to Jesus.

I'm stepping out in faith to make Sonny's one simple dream come true: a modest RV that gives him occasional warmth and a hot shower while he continues living the free, nature-embracing life he loves.

And I'm asking you—yes, YOU reading this right now—to pray and listen for the Lord's nudge. If He stirs your heart to give, even a little, know that you're not just buying a vehicle. You're fueling a walking miracle. You're empowering a man who blesses everyone he meets to keep shining brighter for the Kingdom.

Every dollar brings us closer. Every share spreads the story further. Together, we can surprise Sonny with this gift and show him that God's people rally around the humble, the faithful, and the joyful.

Let the Holy Spirit guide you today. Give boldly, pray fervently, and watch our mighty God move mountains!

If you're ready to be part of this miracle, donate now—let's overwhelm Sonny with the overwhelming love of Jesus. May the Lord bless you a hundredfold for every step you take on this faith-filled journey with us!
